An average of 25 talks per year are given by visiting scholars and a few faculty members, and joint colloquia with Biostatistics and Mathematics are held periodically. Rao, Bradley Efron, Lucien LeCam, Peter Bickel, Ulf Grenander, Larry Shepp, David Donoho, David Siegmund, Herbert Robbins, Lawrence D. Brown, Nancy Reid, S.R.S. Varadhan, Stuart Geman, Iain Johnstone and Peter Hall. 
         

        The 2004 Hotelling Lectures this year will be given by Dr. Ruth J. Williams of the University of California at San Diego.
